What should I expect as a new homeopathy client?
New client consultations last 1.5 to 2 hours, as we will discuss all of your health concerns in great detail. During this visit, I am seeking to learn all of the ways in which a client's body shows it is imbalanced through his or unique physical, mental, and emotional symptoms.
Follow up visits generally take less time. I am looking to see how someone is responding to their remedy and will review any changes in the initial concerns discussed at the new client consultation. Allow for approximately 30 to 45 minutes for follow up visits.
How many consultations will I need?
Follow up visits are important, especially early on in care, so that I can assess a client's response to the remedy and make any changes if necessary. Generally speaking, the first follow up is scheduled 4-6 weeks after a client starts taking his or her remedy. After that, follow up visits are determined by how a client is responding to the remedy.
It’s important to keep in mind that chronic, long standing health issues are often years in the making. For this reason, achieving the highest possible level of wellness takes time and commitment on the part of the client and the homeopath.
The goal of achieving wellness through homeopathy will be impacted by several factors, including a client's personal medical history, the nature of the problems being addressed, previous or current treatments a client has had which may have been suppressive in nature, and an individual's overall strength and vitality
It’s important to remember that life is not static…as life happens with loss, grief, stress, illness, surgeries, accidents, etc., a person's symptom picture may change and could necessitate the need for a remedy change. Clients might therefore need to follow up more frequently at those times in life.
What are homeopathic remedies made from and how are they made?
Homeopathic remedies are made from naturally occurring substances, such as plants and minerals. The preparation of remedies involves a series of repeated dilutions with agitation (succussion) occurring at each step of dilution in a process called potentization. This process allows for the extraction of the medicinal properties of the substance, essentially transforming them from crude substances into a form of energetic medicine. There is no contraindication to taking them alongside allopathic medications you may be taking.
Homeopathic remedies are FDA-regulated and are prepared in homeopathic pharmacies according to the strict standards set forth by the Homeopathic Pharmacopeia of the United States (HPUS).
Homeopathic remedies are studied individually in what is known as a Proving. By giving one remedy at a time to healthy, willing participants in a Proving, we are able to determine the unique symptom profile of each remedy…and ultimately match an individual’s unique combination of physical, mental and emotional symptoms to that of a homeopathic remedy.
What is the safety record of homeopathy?
Homeopathy has a centuries-old history of safety among clients of all ages, including pregnant and nursing women, babies and the elderly. Many studies have been done showing the efficacy of homeopathy in both acute and chronic ailments. The American Institute of Homeopathy (AIH) has compiled an extensive list of such studies, which you can view here: https://homeopathyusa.org/

Will I have to take my remedy for the rest of my life?
Homeopathy is supporting a client's vitality in the setting of chronic, long standing health issues. Problems that are years in the making take time to address. Achieving a higher level of wellbeing is a journey that requires time, patience, and commitment from both the client and homeopath.
The goal of achieving wellness through homeopathy will be impacted by factors such as a client's past medical history, the nature and severity of his or health concerns, previous or current treatments a client has had which may have been suppressive, overall vitality or strength, and even a client's family’s medical history. It’s likely that a series of remedies will be needed to address longstanding concerns.
I found a homeopathic combination remedy at the store--can I use this as well?
One of the foundational principles of classical homeopathy is the concept of the single remedy. Remedies are studied in Provings individually, one at a time, in order to determine each remedy’s unique symptom profile.
After I take a client's case and analyze his or her full symptom picture, I work to match a client's unique pattern of physical, mental and emotional symptoms to a remedy that addresses the entirety of his or her case. As a form of energetic medicine, a well-chosen remedy gives the body the signal it needs to start healing itself.
If a client takes more than one remedy at a time, this sends the body multiple different signals at once. This can cause confusion, disrupt healing that is already underway, and make it difficult to track the remedy’s action, to know what’s helping, and to manage care.
Are there any contraindications to taking homeopathic remedies in addition to medications I'm already taking?
Homeopathic remedies work in the body on an energetic level. For this reason, they do not interfere with allopathic medications you are taking. Clients who are taking conventional medications should continue to take them as directed by their doctor and should not change or discontinue them unless directed to do so by the prescribing physician.
